If true, this is likely part of an ongoing committee that is examining "Cyber Threats and Ongoing Efforts to Protect the Nation" (see the recent press releases here and here). House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), Chairman Mike Rogers and Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger headed the committee and heard testimony from several people. The schedule for testimony and hearings is not posted more than a few days in advance, so it is difficult to confirm if his alleged testimony is for this, a different committee, different sub-committee or just his way of saying he will be in a room with a congressperson.
If you feel that Gregory Evans testifying to Congress on computer security is inappropriate given his criminal past, we encourage you to contact the appropriate parties and let them know of Evans' past.
